FocusLedger is operated by Mohit Gangrade, an individual based in India. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use focusledger.app, how we use it, and your rights over it. By using FocusLedger, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who We Are

FocusLedger is operated by Mohit Gangrade (“I”, “me”, “we”). We are not a registered company. Payments are processed by Creem, our Merchant of Record, who handles billing, tax compliance, and payment data on our behalf.

2. What Data We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Account information: your name and email address when you sign up.
Task and planning data: tasks, time blocks, priorities, subtasks, notes, and any content you create inside FocusLedger.
Communications: messages you send to us via email or support channels.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Usage data: how you interact with the app, which features you use, session duration, and navigation patterns. This is collected via PostHog.
Device and technical data: browser type, operating system, IP address, app version, and device identifiers.
Performance data: page load times, error logs, and crash reports.

2.3 Payment Data

We do not collect or store your payment details. All payment processing is handled by Creem, our Merchant of Record. Please review Creem’s privacy policy for details on how they handle your payment information.

2.4 AI Feature Data

FocusLedger uses AI to power two features: automatic task categorisation (as you type a task name) and optional subtask generation. To provide these features, task names and related content may be sent to a third-party AI provider. This data is used solely to generate the requested output for your account. We do not use your data to train AI models, and our AI providers are contractually prohibited from doing so.

3. How We Use Your Data

To provide and operate FocusLedger and all its features.
To analyse usage patterns and improve the product.
To send transactional emails (account confirmations, billing notices) via Brevo.
To send product updates and announcements (you can unsubscribe at any time).
To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorised access.
To comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the following service providers, strictly to operate FocusLedger:

PostHog: product analytics and usage tracking.
Brevo: email delivery for transactional and marketing communications.
Creem: payment processing and Merchant of Record services.
Third-party AI providers: for task categorisation and subtask generation features only.

All service providers are required to protect your data and use it only for the specific purposes we specify. We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

5. Data Retention

While your account is active, we retain your data to provide the service.
If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days.
Some anonymised or aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.
Backups may retain data for up to 90 days after deletion.

6. Your Rights

Regardless of where you are located, you have the following rights over your data:

Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Deletion: request that we delete your account and personal data.
Portability: request your data in a machine-readable format.
Objection: object to certain types of processing.
Opt-out: unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

If you are located in the EU or UK, the following applies. We process your data on the following lawful bases: contract performance (to provide the service), legitimate interests (to improve the product and communicate with you), and consent (for marketing communications). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you are unsatisfied with how we handle your data.

8. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the service and understand how it is used. PostHog may set cookies for analytics purposes. You can control cookie settings through your browser. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of FocusLedger.

9. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security monitoring. However, no system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at mohit@focusledger.app.

10. Children

FocusLedger is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

11. International Data Transfers

FocusLedger is operated from India. By using the service, you consent to your data being processed in India and in other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international transfers.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of FocusLedger after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
